L' EVOLUZIONE DELL' INFEZIONE DEL VIRUS DELL' EPATITE E NELLA REGIONE MARCHE

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a newly identified virus (early 1980s) and its importance as a human pathogen has been progressively increasing in recent years with the accumulation of evidence relating to its pathogenesis and epidemiological spread. HEV causes acute hepatitis in humans which is generally self-limiting and clinically indistinguishable from that caused by other hepatotoxic infectious agents such as the hepatitis A virus (HAV) with which HEV shares the main mode of transmission: the oral-fecal route. The purpose of this study is to investigate the evolution of HEV infection in infected patients for whom the diagnosis has been made at the University Hospital of United Hospitals of Ancona in the period between 2017 and 2019, in order to examine the clinical characteristics of patients, the breakdown of the same by gender, age groups and finally establish the risk factors associated with the infection.

Il virus dell'epatite E (HEV) è un virus di recente identificazione (inizi anni ’80 del secolo scorso) e la sua importanza come patogeno umano è andata progressivamente aumentando nel corso degli ultimi anni con l’accumularsi delle evidenze relative alla sua patogenesi e diffusione epidemiologica. HEV causa nell’uomo un’epatite acuta generalmente autolimitante e clinicamente indistinguibile da quella causata da altri agenti infettivi epatotropi quali per esempio il virus dell’epatite A (HAV) con il quale HEV condivide la principale modalità di trasmissione: la via oro-fecale. Lo scopo di questo studio è quello di indagare l’evoluzione dell’infezione da HEV in pazienti infetti per i quali ne è stata formulata la diagnosi presso l’Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti di Ancona nel periodo compreso tra il 2017 e il 2019, al fine di esaminare le caratteristiche cliniche dei pazienti, la suddivisione degli stessi per genere, fasce d’età ed infine stabilire i fattori di rischio associati all’infezione.
