The topic addressed in this thesis concerns the management of the patient undergoing myocardial revascularization. It is motivated by the fact that coronary artery bypass grafting is a remarkably successful and life-saving operation, since according to statistical data, after ten years from the intervention it is well functioning in 95% of cases. The aim is to go into a detailed exposition of the role of the nurse at various stages, particularly in the post-surgical cardiac surgery. The object of study is the analysis of coronary artery bypass grafting, starting from the etymology of the term itself, passing through post-operative assistance, which also includes the various complications that could occur, and finally reaching, after various assessments, the discharge of the patient which will be followed by a rehabilitation phase that must be addressed either in specialized facilities or with special exercises. The information and data within this report are derived from scientific research carried out through ad hoc websites and scientific manuals such as “Cardiopulmonary bypass”(Gosh Sunit, 2015). Through this research work, two goals have been achieved: the first is to better carry out both the condition of the patient who has undergone coronary artery bypass surgery, and to examine the complexity of the tasks that the nurse must perform, to ensure better care for the patient. The second achieved goal is to have broadened the knowledge in both science and nursing, from the point of view of the professional and of the patient. In fact, a very important aspect of the profession is also emphasized, namely the relationship that is created between the nurse and the patient, which is a relationship of trust, empathy and active listening.
