Background: Over the years, in the medical field, we have moved from a model of treatment based on disease and pathology from to cure to a model centered on the patient and his needs. It has also grown due to the role of therapeutic relationship between physiotherapist and patient, for the purpose of a successful treatment outcome, and for the outcome for the personal satisfaction of the person concerned. Objective: The goal is to investigate for establishing a therapeutic relationship between physiotherapist and patient, focusinf on the role of narrative medicine in order to understand the patient’s experience. Materials and Methods: The research was done through the PubMed database. Through the use of a search string and some inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 articles were selected. Subsequently, on the basis of the articles found, a multiple choice questionnaire was administered to 62 physiotherapists operating in accredited private structures. Results: The processing of the questionnaire data confirmed the importance of a positive relationship between physiotherapist and patient according to the codes of the narrative approach, as also highlighted by the articles cited in the paper. Conclusion: Physiotherapists in the sample highlighted the fundamental role of non-technical skills in treatment, suggesting the need for ongoing training in these skills.
