Cellule staminali da cordone ombelicale: dal prelievo al trapianto. Una ricerca bibliografica.

INTRODUCTION The following foreword examines the importance of umbilical cord stem cells dealing with some pathologies. Moreover, this abstract describes the phases of the process of umbilical cord stem cells transplant and its consequent therapeutic uses. The final aim of this thesis is analyzing and verifying the role of the nurse in the three phases which characterizes umbilical cord stem cells transplant : sampling, conservation and transplant of stem cells. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study has been conducted by the use of "Unbelical cord stem cell collection" AND "transplant and nurs*", in addiction to "Unbelical cord stem cell collection" AND "transplant". The research has been supported also by bibliographic research such as Pubmed Database, Cochrane and Springerlink. RESULTS The study gave the possibility to select only 15 articles among all the ones that have been taken into account. These selected articles are considered to be relevant and crucial in achieving the thesis objective. ANALYSIS Deepening the remaining articles, allowed to determine that nurses encharged with the process of transplant are essential members of transplant team; they actually handle the coordination between donators and receivers. DISCUSSION Bibliographic research arises the lack of information concerning the fundamental role of the nurse in stem cell transplant. There is the need, for this reason, to widen the literature about this practise and the position of the involved nurse.

INTRODUZIONE La sezione introduttiva del presente lavoro indaga l’importanza delle cellule staminali da cordone ombelicale nel trattamento di alcune patologie e illustra le fasi del processo di trapianto di cellule staminali da cordone ombelicale e gli impieghi terapeutici in cui tale metodica viene utilizzata. Descrive inoltre, il ruolo dell’infermiere nelle fasi di prelievo, conservazione e trapianto di tali cellule. Il presente lavoro di tesi ha come obiettivo analizzare e verificare il ruolo assunto dall’infermiere nelle tre fasi di trapianto di cellule staminali da cordone ombelicale. MATERIALI E METODI Le stringhe di ricerca utilizzate sono state “Umbilical cord stem cell collection” AND “transplant AND nurs*” e “Umbilical cord stem cell collection” AND “transplant”. É stata condotta una ricerca bibliografica utilizzando le Banche Dati Pubmed, Cochrane e SpringerLink. RISULTATI La ricerca effettuata ha permesso di selezionare solo 15 articoli tra tutti quelli analizzati, pertinenti l’argomento e fondamentali per l’obiettivo di ricerca. ANALISI Una più approfondita analisi degli articoli rimanenti ha permesso di determinare che gli infermieri che si occupano del processo di trapianto sono una parte fondamentale del team di trapianti, coordinando la cura dei donatori e dei riceventi. DISCUSSIONE La ricerca bibliografica condotta in merito all’importanza e al ruolo che l’infermiere assume nella pratica del trapianto di cellule staminali da cordone ombelicale è risultata scarna e da ciò è emersa l’importanza di ampliare la letteratura in merito a tale terapia e al ruolo dell’infermiere in essa.
