This thesis proposes to test the functionality of photo catalytic minerals called KVO_ZEO because they are based on vanadium and zeolite; they are designed and produced in the laboratory, not yet on the market and aim to reduce the concentrations of airborne pollutants in indoor environments in the presence of radiation with adequate wavelengths. The sample is subjected to laboratory tests including NOx abatement and vocs removal and the results obtained are compared with (commercial) reference materials, for which the photo catalytic properties are known thanks to previous studies and research. Given the results of the tests, it is concluded that KVO_ZEO samples do not develop the photo catalytic properties needed to replace TiO2 in the field of indoor finishing.
Questa tesi propone di sperimentare la funzionalità di minerali foto catalitici denominati KVO_ZEO perché a base di vanadio e zeolite; sono progettati e prodotti in laboratorio, non ancora in commercio e mirano ad abbattere le concentrazioni di inquinanti aerodispersi in ambienti indoor in presenza di radiazione con lunghezze d'onda adeguata. Si sottopone il campione in esame a delle prove di laboratorio tra cui abbattimento NOx e rimozione VOCs e i risultati ottenuti si confrontano con materiali di riferimento (commerciali), per il quale si conoscono le proprietà foto catalitiche grazie a studi e ricerche precedenti. Dati i risultati delle prove si conclude che i campioni KVO_ZEO non sviluppano le proprietà foto catalitiche necessarie per poter sostituire il TiO2 nel campo delle finiture per ambienti indoor.
