The Eras (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocol has transformed perioperative management in colorectal surgeries, promoting rapid and safe recovery. It's implementation has advantages and limitations, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. Nurses play a fundamental role in supporting patients during preparation, managing pain and providing post-operative education. This abstract highlights the importance of the ERAS protocol and the essential contribution of nurses to improve clinical outcomes. Objective The aim of this work, through a narrative review of the literature, is to evaluate the impact that the application of the Eras Protocol has on patients operated on in colorectal surgeries. Material and methods: A narrative review of the literature was carried out by searching for material in the databases of CINAHL, PubMed, and the official website of the ERAS Society; English articles dealing with colorectal pathologies in patients over 18 were used. Results The literature review on the impact of the ERAS protocol in colorectal surgery patients showed a reduction in hospital stay of 25-30% and an improvement in clinical outcomes. However, limitations emerged such as variability in implementation and the need for adequate resources. The role of nurses was crucial in this concept, facilitating education and early mobilization, thus optimizing recovery and communication with patients. Conclusion In summary, the Eras protocol improves the post-surgical path but requires effective multidisciplinary implementation. The nurse plays a crucial role in patient monitoring and education.
