Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood due to impaired production or function of the hormone insulin which regulates the use of glucose in cells. Its prevalence is growing sharply at the level global, especially in low- and middle-income countries, with type 2 diabetes which represents approximately 90% of cases. Diabetes is a priority for healthcare systems since leads to increasing healthcare costs and a significant economic impact. Objective: this thesis aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using telemedicine in the management and monitoring of type 1 and 2 diabetes, highlighting how the digital technologies can promote better access to care and facilitate self-management of the pathology and improve clinical outcomes. Materials and methods: a literature review was carried out by consulting articles scientific data through international databases, such as: Pubmed and Elsilver Sciencedirect, CHINAIL AND COCHRANE with the use of boolean operators And and OR. The data collected have been integrated with articles from the Ministry of Health and the World Organization of Healthcare. Results: Telemedicine allows you to provide healthcare services remotely through advanced technologies, improving access to care, especially in remote areas and for patients with chronic diseases. It offers benefits such as reduced costs, improved emergency management, and continuous monitoring of health conditions. For regarding diabetes, telemedicine offers an effective approach, especially for patients with type 2 diabetes, through continuous monitoring of glucose levels and adopting eating and exercise habits. Wearable devices and digital platforms facilitate self-management and allow for glycemic control real time, reducing the need for frequent outpatient visits. Telemedicine provides remote psychological and nutritional support, improving the quality of life and reducing the burden of disease. Conclusions: telemedicine represents an important innovation in the healthcare sector, offering significant benefits for both patients and professionals. Makes access easier to care, especially for disadvantaged populations, and is particularly revealing effective in managing diabetes, thanks to personalized and continuous monitoring. Improves therapeutic adherence, glycemic control and offers psychological support, reducing costs and environmental impact.
