Introduction: The term music therapy comes from the Greek words Musikè and Therapeia which denote man in movement, speech, sound, assistance and care. Music therapy indicates the use of music as a therapeutic tool in various areas of care. In recent years, scientific literature has studied its effects as a complementary intervention in cancer patients. Objective: To verify the efficacy and outcomes of music therapy interventions on the side effects determined by the infusion of chemotherapeutics in cancer patients under active treatment. Materials and Methods: A literature review was conducted on electronic databases such as Pubmed and Scopus between September and October 2025. Articles published from 2015 to the present have been selected, including adult cancer patients under active chemotherapy treatment as a population. Oncology patients in the terminal phase or accessing music therapy through palliative care and patients undergoing surgery to remove the tumor were excluded. Results: The research produced a total of 168 articles in Pubmed and 1150 in Scopus, of these 12 were selected based on eligibility criteria. The selected articles go to investigate the effectiveness of music therapy on the side effects of chemotherapy infusion such as pain, anxiety, depression, nausea and vomiting, tiredness, mood, stress, quality of life and quality of sleep. The results obtained from the review demonstrated that music therapy has positive effects on the side effects examined. Conclusion: music therapy is a safe and low-cost non-pharmacological treatment that allows to improve the conditions of cancer patients by attenuating what are the side effects resulting from the infusion of chemotherapy drugs.
