This paper aims to offer a contribution in the field of rehabilitation interventions for people with dementia, qualifying make-up as an educational and rehabilitation tool. The main objective is to highlight how the act of wearing makeup, understood as an aesthetic, communicative and identity practice, can contribute to the maintenance of residual abilities, cognitive stimulation and the strengthening of self-esteem in people with cognitive impairment. Through the experience conducted in the field during the internship and the scientific documentation consulted, it is highlighted how makeup, included in an educational rehabilitation project, can encourage the re-enactment of autobiographical memories, promote socialization and support the sense of continuity of the Self. In this regard, the Professional Educator is configured as a mediator between the aesthetic and rehabilitation dimensions, orienting the interventions towards the overall well-being of the person. The results suggest that makeup can, through the valorization of the individual beyond the disease, represent a complementary and significant practice in treatment pathways aimed at dementia.
