ASPETTI GESTIONALI DELLA LOGISTICA IN AMBITO MARITTIMO

This thesis offers a comprehensive overview of maritime logistics. It first highlights its historical importance and reminds us how it has always been a driving force behind the development of the entire economy and society in general. It then focuses on presenting the world's major ports and logistics hubs, emphasizing Asia's centrality to modern world trade. Particular attention is paid to explaining the transition to global trade and how transportation occurs, including a presentation and explanation of the main types of commercial vessels. Subsequently, since this is a Management Engineering thesis within the Industrial Engineering degree program, the bulk of the thesis lies in the chapters on fleet management and the management aspects of maritime logistics. The chapter on management aspects seeks to identify the best management solutions for maritime logistics performance, starting from indicators organized into four main dimensions. Finally, there's a chapter dedicated to environmental issues and sustainability, which is the center around which the modern world revolves, and which we have a duty to save. Some of the main problems are mentioned and solutions are sought. Sustainability isn't just a technical aspect, but also involves the entire economic and organizational aspect. I chose the topic of maritime logistics because I liked the idea of ​​learning more about this area, and perhaps one day dealing with this world more closely.

La tesi presentata ci offre una panoramica completa sulla logistica in ambito marittimo. Dapprima sottolinea l’importanza storica di quest’ultima, e ci ricorda di come è stata sempre trainante per lo sviluppo di tutta l’economia e della società in generale. Ci si sofferma poi anche sul presentare i principali porti e hub logistici nel mondo, sottolineando la centralità moderna dell’Asia sul commercio mondiale. Particolare attenzione si riserva alla spiegazione del passaggio al commercio globale e di come avvengono i trasporti, con l’annessa presentazione e spiegazione delle principali tipologie di navi commerciali. In seguito, essendo questa una tesi di Ingegneria Gestionale della classe delle lauree in Ingegneria Industriale, la parte corposa della tesi risiede nei capitoli sulla gestione delle flotte e sugli aspetti gestionali della logistica marittima. Il capitolo sugli aspetti gestionali cerca di trovare le migliori soluzioni gestionali per performare nella logistica marittima partendo da degli indici organizzati in quattro grandi dimensioni principali. Infine c’è un capitolo dedicato ai problemi ambientali e alla sostenibilità che è il centro intorno a cui gira il mondo moderno, che abbiamo il dovere di salvare. Si citano alcuni dei problemi principali e si cerca di trovare soluzioni. La sostenibilità non è solo un aspetto tecnico, ma riguarda anche tutta la parte economica ed organizzativa. Ho scelto il tema della logistica marittima poiché amavo l’idea di informarmi di più su questo fronte, e magari un giorno trattare questo mondo più da vicino.
