Introduction: This paper analyses the role of Leadership in the context healthcare, with particular reference to the figure of the nurse and its impact on clinical-care and organizational outcomes. In today's healthcare system, Leadership it is characterized as a fundamental transversal competence, not limited to roles managerial but also practicable in daily clinical practice. Objective: It is to highlight how Nursing Leadership most influences aspects of the health system team work, organizational climate and welfare of operators, as well as patient safety. Methods: To this end, a literature review was conducted, analyzing scientific contributions present on search engines. The related leadership styles, to the tools used by the nurse in particular communication and empowerment and to the effects on the main welfare outcomes. Results: The analysis shows that effective Leadership, especially of the type transformational and relationship-oriented, fosters collaboration between professionals, reduces the risk of error, contrasts phenomena such as burnout and turnover and improve the quality of care provided. Conversely, authoritarian styles or a lack of Leadership can compromise work climate and clinical outcomes. Conclusions: In conclusion, Nursing Leadership is configured as a essential competence to promote safe, effective and care centered on the person, making it necessary to invest in training and capacity building relational and communicative of healthcare professionals.
Introduzione: il presente elaborato analizza il ruolo della Leadership nel contesto sanitario, con particolare riferimento alla figura dell'infermiere e al suo impatto sugli esiti clinico-assistenziali e organizzativi. Nell’odierno sistema sanitario, la Leadership si caratterizza come una competenza trasversale fondamentale, non limitata ai ruoli dirigenziali ma esercitabile anche nella pratica clinica quotidiana. Obiettivo: è quello di evidenziare come la Leadership infermieristica influenzi più aspetti del sistema sanitario il lavoro di équipe, il clima organizzativo e il benessere degli operatori, oltre che la sicurezza del paziente. Metodi: A tal fine è stata condotta una revisione della letteratura, analizzando contributi scientifici presenti su motori di ricerca. Gli relativi agli stili di leadership, agli strumenti utilizzati dall'infermiere in particolare comunicazione ed empowerment e agli effetti sui principali outcome assistenziali. Risultati: Dall'analisi emerge come una Leadership efficace, soprattutto di tipo trasformazionale e orientata alle relazioni, favorisca la collaborazione tra professionisti, riduca il rischio di errore, contrasti fenomeni quali burnout e turnover e migliori la qualità dell'assistenza erogata. Al contrario, stili autoritari o una carenza di Leadership possono compromettere il clima di lavoro e gli esiti clinici. Conclusioni: In conclusione, la Leadership infermieristica si configura come una competenza essenziale per promuovere un'assistenza sicura, efficace e centrata sulla persona, rendendo necessario investire nella formazione e nello sviluppo delle capacità relazionali e comunicative dei professionisti sanitari.
