In the context of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), reverberation chambers represent a fundamental tool for testing and characterizing electronic and medical devices. However, the presence of the Device Under Test (DUT) can alter the statistical behavior of the electromagnetic field inside the chamber, leading to the so-called loading effect. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the influence of the loading effect on the statistical properties of the electromagnetic field within a reverberation chamber. The analysis is based on experimental data collected over a wide frequency range. Several parameters have been investigated, including the Rician K-factor and the number of independent positions. In addition, goodness-of-fit tests, namely the Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS) test and the Anderson–Darling (AD) test, have been applied to assess the agreement between measured data and theoretical models. The results show that most of the analyzed distributions are consistent with the theoretical models, although some deviations arise due to experimental conditions. In particular, the Anderson–Darling test proves to be more sensitive than the KS test in detecting discrepancies in the tails of the distributions. Finally, the analysis of the quality factor (Q-factor) reveals a dependence on frequency, highlighting variations in chamber performance in the presence of the DUT. In conclusion, this work contributes to a better understanding of the loading effect in reverberation chambers, improving the reliability of EMC measurements on medical devices.
