This thesis aims to analyze the dynamic stresses transmitted to a packaged cooktop during handling and transport tests through the use of accelerometer measurements. The study is intended to evaluate the behavior of the packaging and its ability to attenuate vibrations coming from the external environment. The experimental tests were carried out using a low-cost distributed acquisition sy stem, consisting of triaxial accelerometer sensors positioned at different points of the product–packaging system, including the cooktop, the internal supports, the bottom of the box, the trolley and the pallet. The acquired data were processed in Matlab by analyzing both the comparison between pairs of sensors, through scatter plots, offset and dispersion with respect to the bisector, and the vertical transmission of vibrations through the mean value, dispersion and transmissibility coefficients along the z-axis. The results show that the vertical component represents the most significant direction in vibration transmission. The packaging shows an ability to attenuate the stresses coming from the trolley or pallet, although its behavior is not uniform on all the analyzed sides and some local amplification phenomena are present. The car transport tests further confirm the possibility of using the system to characterize vibrations under conditions closer to real transport scenarios. Overall, this work shows how a low-cost distributed accelerometer system can provide useful information for evaluating the dynamic behavior of packaging, identifying the most stressed areas and supporting future optimizations aimed at improving product protection during transport.

Abstract
Overall, this work shows how a low-cost distributed accelerometer system can provide useful information for evaluating the dynamic behavior of packaging, identifying the most stressed areas and supporting future optimizations aimed at improving product protection during transport.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
