Globalization and Supply Chain Resilience: A Case Study of the LEGO Group

Globalization has reshaped production by encouraging firms to organize their activities through Global Value Chains (GVCs). While this model has increased efficiency and international integration, it has also exposed firms to growing disruptions caused by economic, health, and geopolitical crises. This thesis discusses the relationship between globalization, GVCs, and supply chain resilience through the case of the LEGO Group. The analysis shows how geographical diversification, collaboration with suppliers, and continuous innovation support resilience while preserving the benefits of global production. The case highlights that competitiveness increasingly depends not only on cost efficiency but also on the ability to adapt to an uncertain and rapidly changing environment.
