The objective of this thesis is to validate a method for measuring fluid flow using ultrasonic sensors. To this end, a pair of piezoelectric capsules operating at a nominal frequency of 40 kHz, taken from a commercial HC-SR04 module, were used as electroacoustic transducers. The design and simultaneous construction of a dedicated test bench enabled the execution of an experimental campaign. Specifically, the main duct—based on the characteristic geometry of a Venturi tube—was fabricated using 3D printing. Airflow was generated by a fan driven by a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) signal, while the generation of the drive signals and the subsequent acquisition of the sensors’ electrical responses were entirely coordinated using the Moku:Go multimeter. This thesis is organized according to a well-defined structure. First, an overview is provided of the state of the art and scientific literature in the field of ultrasonic flowmeters and their main sources of uncertainty. The central section of the paper describes in detail the materials, methods, and engineering steps that led to the construction of the measurement bench. Finally, the last part is entirely dedicated to discussing the results obtained from the tests performed on the measurement bench.

Abstract
Finally, the last part is entirely dedicated to discussing the results obtained from the tests performed on the measurement bench.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
