This dissertation investigates the economic architecture and strategic evolution of modern digital platforms, using Meta Platforms as a primary case study. As digital markets move beyond traditional economic frameworks, understanding how multi-sided platforms create, deliver, and capture value becomes crucial. The research explores the foundational mechanics of the attention economy, where consumer data and user engagement serve as the primary currency supporting a targeted advertising revenue model. Furthermore, the analysis examines the profound transition currently reshaping the technology industry, shifting from traditional market competition with emerging rivals like TikTok toward complex challenges involving infrastructure sustainability, artificial intelligence investments, and rigorous regulatory compliance. By combining financial disclosures and recent market developments, the study demonstrates that the long term viability of digital giants depends on their ability to reconcile algorithmic innovation with evolving legal and operational frameworks.
