Colobus guereza is a medium-sized primate belonging to the family Cercopithecidae. As of August 2025, five individuals of this species have been housed at the Parco Zoo Falconara. To evaluate the subjects' acclimatization, ethological observations focusing on spatial utilization were conducted during their first month post-introduction. Data collection occurred during the facility's opening hours, employing a scan sampling methodology (All animal-scan sampling-animal distribution in the enclosure). A total of 60 hours of observation were conducted throughout August, evenly distributed between morning (30 hours) and afternoon (30 hours) sessions. The results revealed notable variability in zone utilization, indicating distinct spatial preferences for specific environmental features. Comparative analyses were also performed to assess potential shifts in spatial distribution related to visitor presence versus absence, diurnal variations (morning vs. afternoon), and temporal progression across the four observation weeks. These comparisons further highlighted spatial use variability driven by multiple variables (shade, visitors and ease of detection). In conclusion, given the observed behavioral variability and the almost total exploitation of the available enclosure space, these findings strongly suggest the successful introduction and acclimation of the individuals to their new habitat.

Abstract
In conclusion, given the observed behavioral variability and the almost total exploitation of the available enclosure space, these findings strongly suggest the successful introduction and acclimation of the individuals to their new habitat.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
