This study has enabled the development and testing of a wearable device for estimating human energy metabolism using the Level 4 4A Method in accordance with ISO 8996. The device was designed with Wi-Fi capabilities as an IoT device, programmed with open-source firmware provided by the Theremino.com team. The device, called MEAD, communicates with the Theremino_IoTHAL.exe interface and the custom-developed Theremino_MetRaM.exe software. The trial tested the operation of the entire system, which, although it did not achieve the expected accuracy due to the small sample size used, demonstrated an uncertainty of less than 10 per cent.

Abstract

WEARABLE DEVICE DEVELOPMENT FOR HUMAN METABOLISM RATE EVALUATION USING MULTIPARAMETRIC EXHALED-AIR MEASUREMENTS
