This study presents the development of a semantic indoor navigation system for one floor of the DICEA building of the Università Politecnica delle Marche. The system was developed from 53 equirectangular spherical panoramas acquired in a preliminary survey and later extended to 110 panoramas in the definitive campaign. The LLM-Loc system was adopted as the methodological reference. The work is organised into four operational workstreams: metric three-dimensional reconstruction through the LightGlue/SuperPoint pipeline and Structure-from-Motion with COLMAP, with registration to the CAD drawing by means of the Umeyama similarity transformation; recognition of room identification plaques using a vision-language model with perspective tiling; doorway detection; and the development of a navigable viewer with path planning based on the A* algorithm. On the definitive survey, the reconstruction registers 107 of the 110 panoramas, 106 of which are used, through a visibility-constrained pair selection; the metric registration, obtained with a single global Umeyama similarity, yields a mean error of 0.133~m on the control points, with a reconstructed-to-real distance ratio of 0.980 and no model folding. The mobile-device localisation module, for which the definitive survey was specifically densified, has been developed. On the preliminary campaign, the work also documents a counterintuitive finding of methodological interest: the dense point cloud produced by Multi-View Stereo is metrically less accurate than the sparse cloud from which it was generated, owing to the photogrammetric drift induced by the self-similarity of the building's layout.

Abstract
On the preliminary campaign, the work also documents a counterintuitive finding of methodological interest: the dense point cloud produced by Multi-View Stereo is metrically less accurate than the sparse cloud from which it was generated, owing to the photogrammetric drift induced by the self-similarity of the building's layout.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
