This thesis describes the integration and optimization of the low-level algorithms for a 1:10-scale autonomous vehicle, developed as part of the Bosch Future Mobility Challenge 2026 competition. Starting from an existing hardware and software architecture, the work focused on the firmware of the STM32 Nucleo-F401RE board, which is responsible for controlling the actuators, acquiring sensor data and communicating with the high-level controller, the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super. In particular,, the thesis focuses on the implementation and optimization of the algorithms for traction and steering control, the acquisition of data from the encoder and IMUs, the management of the illuminance sensor and the robustness of communication between the two boards. The solutions adopted were validated through static and dynamic tests, as well as track tests. The work also included improving the YOLO11n inference model used for object detection on the track, by expanding and optimizing the training dataset. Overall, the improvements made have enhanced the stability, reliability and safety of the vehicle’s main subsystems.
