This work illustrates the physical modeling and real-time implementation of an effect that simulates a vintage tape delay, based on the emulation of the Sony TC-260 analog tape recorder. The mathematical heart of the system utilizes the Jiles-Atherton model for accurate simulation of the magnetic hysteresis cycle. The project is divided into two phases. The first consists of an offline implementation of the system in a MATLAB environment; the second phase involves porting the model to C++ for real-time execution within the VCV Rack modular platform. The final result is a stable and interactive software module capable of faithfully reproducing the saturation, imperfections, and mechanical fluctuations of its analog counterpart.

Abstract
This work illustrates the physical modeling and real-time implementation of an effect that simulates a vintage tape delay, based on the emulation of the Sony TC-260 analog tape recorder. The mathematical heart of the system utilizes the Jiles-Atherton model for accurate simulation of the magnetic hysteresis cycle. The project is divided into two phases. The first consists of an offline implementation of the system in a MATLAB environment; the second phase involves porting the model to C++ for real-time execution within the VCV Rack modular platform. The final result is a stable and interactive software module capable of faithfully reproducing the saturation, imperfections, and mechanical fluctuations of its analog counterpart.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
