Vitreous enamels are protective coatings that, thanks to their proprieties, are widely used in many sectors, from constructions to the chemical industry. In the following thesis, the behaviour of enameled steel specimens used in the construction of domestic hot water cylinders was analyzed through static and cyclic tensile tests. The test campaign included the use of non-contact optical technologies (digital image correlation) to measure the strain, in combination with conventional measurements from the load cell and differential transformer from the testing machine. The experimental activity, that took place at the laboratory of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Science consisted of the preparation and set-up of the instruments, preparation of the specimens, the execution and subsequent analysis of the tests through custom MatLab scripts. The achieved results made a correlation between the deformation of the steel substrate and the propagation of cracks in the enameled surface possible, making this a useful foundation for future studies of coated materials.

Abstract
The achieved results made a correlation between the deformation of the steel substrate and the propagation of cracks in the enameled surface possible, making this a useful foundation for future studies of coated materials.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
