Analisi della concentrazione dei consumi mediante l'indice di Theil

This thesis illustrates the procedure used to perform an analysis of the concentration of consumption in the various regions of our country. To do this analysis the Theil index is used, which is the most appropriate index for the same study. This paper is composed first of a purely theoretical part, then of an application part in which the analysis that has been made is illustrated. The program used for the application phase is Excel. Initially an excursus will be made on the theoretical aspects concerning consumption in the strict sense, on its origins, on the historical context and on sociological thought. Subsequently, instead, a brief mention will be made of the optimal conditions of the consumer and the general form of the demand equation. Here we will touch on the more microeconomic aspects (price, quantity, income, utility function). The last theoretical part deals with everything you need to know to be able to carry out the objective analysis of this paper. In this, all the concepts concerning concentration will be explained, starting from entropy and up to the construction of the Theil index to analyze the concentration of consumption "between" and "within" the groups, as well as the total concentration. This, logically, is the most technical and important part of this thesis, and therefore the most substantial of notions. After completing the practical application part, the whole procedure followed will be explained in detail (in connection with the previous theoretical part). In addition, the results of the application will be listed and will be appropriately commented. Finally, we will explain why Theil's index was the most appropriate for this type of analysis.

Questa tesi illustra il procedimento utilizzato per eseguire un'analisi della concentrazione dei consumi sulle varie regioni del nostro paese. Per fare questa analisi viene utilizzato l'indice di Theil, che è l'indice più appropriato per il medesimo studio. Questo elaborato è composto prima da una parte prettamente teorica, poi da una parte applicativa in cui appunto si illustra l'analisi che è stata fatta. Il programma utilizzato per la fase applicativa è Excel. Inizialmente verrà fatto un excursus sugli aspetti teorici riguardanti il consumo in senso stretto, sulle sue origini, sul contesto storico e sul pensiero sociologico. Successivamente, invece, verrà fatto un breve accenno sulle condizioni ottimali del consumatore e sulla forma generale dell'equazioni della domanda. Qui si toccheranno gli aspetti più microeconomici (prezzo, quantità, reddito, funzione di utilità). L'ultima parte teorica si occupa di tutto ciò che bisogna sapere per riuscire ad effettuare l'analisi obiettivo di questo elaborato. In questa, verranno spiegati tutti i concetti riguardanti la concentrazione, partendo dall'entropia e fino ad arrivare alla costruzione dell'indice di Theil per analizzare la concentrazione dei consumi "tra" ed "entro" i gruppi, nonché la concentrazione totale. Questa, logicamente, è la parte più tecnica ed importante di questa tesi, e quindi più corposa di nozioni. Dopo aver completato la parte pratica di applicazione, verrà spiegato in dettaglio tutto il procedimento seguito (in collegamento alla parte teorica precedente). Inoltre, verranno elencati i risultati dell'applicazione e verranno opportunamente commentati. Infine, spiegheremo il perché l'indice di Theil è stato il più appropriato per questo tipo di analisi.
