In the world of finance, the digital revolution is reforming the way customers approach financial products and services. In the last period, the growing interaction between technology and finance, has reconfigured the financial industry, a phenomenon so far-reaching that a specific term was coined to define it: FinTech (Financial-Technology). The birth of innovative technological platforms is therefore challenging the financial markets through a plurality of channels and modes, not only in the banking sector, but also in other areas. The new generations have grown up in the era of technological development. The introduction and early adoption of technology in today's life has created an increasing level of expectations. From shopping to banking, customer expectations have reached a peak that the traditional banking system has been unable to meet. Fintech companies use technology to support financial transactions between businesses and consumers. Technological advances, changing demand for financial products and competition in the financial services sector are the basis of a new wave of start-ups and fintech investments that have drawn attention to the industry in recent years. But what are Fintechs and why do they play an increasingly important role in a company that is becoming more and more technological? In order to shed light on this new trend and to fully understand what it really is able to bring to today's society, it is first necessary to come to a general definition of the phenomenon. In the first part of this study, I will provide an interpretation of the term and then outline its general characteristics and conclude with its main applications. It will be followed by a study on trends both at global and European level and finally in the Italian panorama, where it will be highlighted the substantial differences both of applicability and of the same consideration that the different global companies have respectively about FinTech. A further issue that will be addressed in my analysis will necessarily concern the study of regulation and supervision and its indispensable evolution to keep up with FinTech evolution. In conclusion, I will have to deal with the issue of the epidemic and how Fintechs have assumed a crucial role as a means to face and support the economic recovery, made possible by their flexibility and ability to adapt certainly superior to traditional intermediaries as well as their function of support to institutional authorities. With these assumptions, my thesis work aims to provide the key to understand the importance of the role played by Fintech in the financial sector, observing its evolution up to the present day and trying to address in a critical key both the advantages and disadvantages that this has entailed.

Abstract
In the first part of this study, I will provide an interpretation of the term and then outline its general characteristics and conclude with its main applications. With these assumptions, my thesis work aims to provide the key to understand the importance of the role played by Fintech in the financial sector, observing its evolution up to the present day and trying to address in a critical key both the advantages and disadvantages that this has entailed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
