Studio osservazionale comparativo sulle esperienze, le conoscenze e le ideologie dell'infermiere nell'end-of-life care

The relationship with terminal patient, for the healthcare staff, is a comparison moment with a reality they often have under their eyes, but that it’s difficult to accept. Because despite the attempts to emotional detachment with patients, we will ever humanly and professionaly brought to don’t remain emotionless in front of the death, especially if succeeded some factors, as the age and the emotions. What has been studied is the knowledge level of the nurses and the nursing students revealing between personal experiences, point of view and considerations, trying to take a photo of the thought about the end-of-life care and then how things has been turned in a Covid-19 context. The data collection has been made with distribution of 272 anonymous online questionnaires during july, august and september oriented to nurses (regardless of workplace) and nursing students. By the results it also has been possible to do a comparison based on workplace between participants and between nurses and students, pointing out strenghts and lack, depending on the considered category. By this, is emerged the relevance of knowledge range and experiences range, in this helpful setting, for the nursing profession.

Il rapporto con i pazienti terminali è per il personale sanitario, un momento di confronto con una realtà che si ha spesso sotto gli occhi ma che è difficile da accettare. Questo perché nonostante i tentativi nel mantenere un distacco emotivo coi pazienti saremo sempre portati, umanamente e professionalmente parlando, a non rimanere impassibili davanti alla morte, specie se subentrano fattori come età ed emozioni. Ciò che si è andato a studiare è il grado di conoscenza degli infermieri e degli studenti di infermieristica, scavando attraverso esperienze personali, punti di vista e considerazioni, cercando di ottenere una fotografia di quello che è il pensiero riguardo la tematica dell’ end-of-life care e successivamente di come le cose si siano evolute in un contesto come quello della pandemia da Covid-19. La raccolta dati è avvenuta mediante la diffusione nei mesi di luglio, agosto e settembre di 272 questionari anonimi online, rivolti agli infermieri (indipendentemente dalla loro sede di lavoro) e agli studenti di infermieristica. Dai risultati è stato possibile anche effettuare una comparazione fra i partecipanti sulla base della loro occupazione lavorativa e tra infermieri e studenti, evidenziando punti di forza e carenze, a seconda delle categorie considerate. Da questo è poi emersa l’importanza ricoperta dalla sfera delle conoscenze e da quella delle esperienze, in questo ambito assistenziale, per la professione infermieristica.
