Abstract Introduction. The rapid global spread of COVID-19 and its consequences on public health have made it necessary to develop vaccines quickly. The first vaccines were made available at the end of 2020, healthcare workers and healthcare students were among the first people to have access to them. Aims. The aim is to analyze the attitudes of healthcare students towards COVID-19 vaccination. Materials and methods. An online survey was realized and the VAX scale was used to study the attitude of students towards COVID-19 vaccine. Results. The questionnaire was filled in by 346 students. Most of the participants (76,3%) are female, with an average age of 23,49 ± 5,33 years. The factor on the VAX scale that scored higher was “concern about unforeseen future effects” with a mean of 4,21 (± 1,70), while the one with the lowest score was “vaccine distrust” with a mean of 1,83 (± 1,08). “Preference for natural immunity” obtained an average score of 2,58 (± 1,48). The “reserves regarding commercial profit” obtained an average equal to 1,95 (± 1,30)- Discussion and conclusions. Overall, the results highlighted a positive attitude of students towards COVID-19 vaccination. However they express concerns about future adverse effects. It is therefore necessary to implement strategies aimed at increasing knowledge regarding future side effects in order to encourage the attitude to vaccination using targeted educational interventions. Keywords: anti COVID-19 vaccine, attitudes towards vaccination , VAX scale.
Abstract Introduzione.
