Background: In this paper we wanted to deepen the topic of conversation with the patient suffering from Alzheimer’s, so how to communicate, the strategies to be implemented and the situations to avoid to have an effective communication with the patient. Communication is an indispensable component in people’s lives, and when it is compromised it can lead to isolation, which is why people need to be helped and encouraged to communicate. Objective: To identify the best strategies for communicating with patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Materials and methods: Review of literature with consultation of the pubmed database, and websites via Google scholar. The results were obtained through the recombination of the following keywords with the Boolean operator "AND": Alzheimer’s disease/communication, Verbal communication, Non-verbal communication, Dementia/communication strategies, Alzheimer’s disease, Alzheimer’s/nursing. In order to optimise the search, the publication date of less than 10 years has been chosen as a filter. Discussion: In order to improve communication with the patient, strategies have been identified to improve communication. Identify yourself and call the person by name, look them in the eye, minimize distractions, use short and simple sentences and words, speak slowly and distinctly, wait patiently for an answer , repeat information or questions if necessary, turn questions into answers and negatives into positives, use nonverbal communication, give visual clues when possible, write things, treat the person with dignity and respect, make the patient smile and include the person in conversations. Elements have also been identified that should be avoided in order not to make the patient close in himself, such as asking too many questions at once, using confusing terms, correcting the patient if he misses words, reprimand him and force the patient to communicate. Conclusions: Various strategies have been identified to ensure effective communication with Alzheimer’s patients. The nurse must be able to provide information on how to communicate effectively, as this is also part of nursing
Background: In questo elaborato si è voluto approfondire la tematica della conversazione con il paziente affetto da Alzheimer, quindi come poter comunicare, le strategie da mettere in atto e le situazioni da evitare per aver una comunicazione efficace con il paziente. La comunicazione è una componente indispensabile nella vita delle persone, e quando questa viene compromessa può portare all’isolamento, per questo motivo le persone devono essere aiutate e incentivate a comunicare. Obiettivo: Individuare le migliori strategie per poter comunicare con pazienti affetti dal morbo di Alzheimer. Materiali e metodi: Revisione di letteratura con consultazione della Banca dati di PubMed, e siti internet tramite Google scholar. I risultati sono stati ottenuti attraverso la ricombinazione delle seguenti parole chiave con l’operatore booleano “AND”: Alzheimer disease/communication, Verbal communication, Non-verbal communication, Dementia/communication strategies, Alzheimer’s disease, Alzheimer/ nursing. Per ottimizzare la ricerca si è scelto di applicare come filtro la data di pubblicazione inferiore a 10 anni. Discussione: Per fare in modo che si possa avere una migliore comunicazione con il paziente, sono state individuate delle strategie per far sì che la comunicazione possa essere migliorata. Identificarsi e chiamare la persona per nome, guardarla negli occhi, ridurre al minimo le distrazioni, utilizzare frasi e parole brevi e semplici, parlare lentamente e distintamente, attendere pazientemente una risposta , ripetere informazioni o domande se dovesse essere necessario, girare le domande in risposte e i negativi in positivi, utilizzare la comunicazione non verbale, dare indizi visivi quando è possibile, scrivere le cose, trattare la persona con dignità e rispetto, far sorridere il paziente e includere la persona nelle conversazioni. Sono anche stati individuati degli elementi che bisognerebbe evitare in modo da non far chiudere in se stesso il paziente, come fare troppe domande contemporaneamente, utilizzare dei termini confusi, correggere il paziente se sbaglia delle parole, rimproverarlo e forzare il paziente a comunicare. Conclusioni: Sono state individuate varie strategie per poter far in modo che si possa avere una comunicazione efficace con i pazienti affetti da Alzheimer. L’infermiere deve essere in grado di poter dare delle informazioni su come poter comunicare efficacemente, poiché anche questo aspetto fa parte dell’assistenza infermieristica
