This thesis work has been realized during an internship supporting project management activities within business development department of the Cirganaerepil project in the Ascoli’s Pfizer plant. This project consisted in supporting Pfizer organization in launch of the new product Cirganaerepil from Ascoli plant. At first supporting the packaging of the drug Cirganaerepil and later also including the production of the drug product. My scope was therefore to help through the use of a program that would allow the tracking of all activities, and which could therefore also help in controlling the progress of the project. The software used is Microsoft Project and is part of the Windows Office suite. Before being able to exploit and take advantage of the software usefulness, it was necessary acquiring knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and then a phase of identification and aggregation of all the databases and information already existing at the company level. Once this data grouping process was carried out, conceptual maps were created summarizing the whole project including all the relationships between the various activities. After the project file was created, each activity was characterized by its duration, start and end date and preceding and following activities. The purpose of using Microsoft Project is to have a well-defined structure of all the activities expected in the project in order to have a clear vision and to check the progress of the project, also based on the activities which was completed or not. To achieve this, therefore, it was necessary to align, through several meetings, all the elements involved within the project. This phase, called "revision" was the main part of the internship absorbing most of the time. To best perform this task, it was necessary to coordinate with other members of the team and therefore the communication and organization skills of the PM were fundamental. It was also interesting to compare how the project evolved from its earliest to its final stages, and this evaluation was made by considering several case studies that investigate the concept of project mutation. In addition, some secondary activities have been included in the thesis work. Those preliminary activities were still needed for the completion of the project, and they have been timing consuming.
Questo lavoro di tesi è stato realizzato durante uno stage di supporto alle attività di project management all'interno del dipartimento di sviluppo aziendale del progetto Cirganaerepil nello stabilimento Pfizer di Ascoli. Questo progetto consisteva nel sostenere l'organizzazione Pfizer nel lancio del nuovo prodotto Cirganaerepil dallo stabilimento di Ascoli. Inizialmente sostenendo il confezionamento del farmaco Cirganaerepil e in seguito includendo anche la produzione del farmaco partendo dalle materie prime. Il mio scopo è stato quindi quello di aiutare attraverso l'uso di un programma che avrebbe permesso il monitoraggio di tutte le attività, e quindi anche aiutare a controllare l'avanzamento del progetto. Il software utilizzato è Microsoft Project ed è parte della suite di Windows Office. Prima di poter sfruttare l'utilità del software, è stato necessario acquisire conoscenza dell'ambiente farmaceutico e quindi è stata necessaria una fase di identificazione e aggregazione di tutte le banche dati e informazioni già esistenti a livello aziendale. Una volta eseguito questo processo di raggruppamento dei dati, sono state create mappe concettuali che riassumono l'intero progetto, comprese tutte le relazioni tra le varie attività. Dopo la creazione del file del progetto, ogni attività è stata caratterizzata dalla sua durata, dalla data di inizio e fine e dalle attività precedenti e successive. Lo scopo dell'utilizzo di Microsoft Project è quello di avere una struttura ben definita di tutte le attività previste nel progetto al fine di avere una visione chiara e verificare lo stato di avanzamento del progetto, anche in base alle attività che sono state completate o meno. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, quindi, è stato necessario allineare, attraverso diverse riunioni, tutti gli elementi coinvolti nel progetto. Questa fase, chiamata "revisione" è stata la parte principale dello stage assorbendo la maggior parte del tempo. Per svolgere al meglio questo compito, è stato necessario coordinarsi con gli altri membri del team e quindi le capacità comunicative e organizzative del PM sono state fondamentali. È stato anche interessante confrontare come il progetto si è evoluto dalle prime alle fasi finali, e questa valutazione è stata fatta considerando diversi casi di studio che indagano il concetto di mutazione del progetto. Inoltre, alcune attività secondarie sono state incluse nel lavoro di tesi. Tali attività preliminari sono state necessarie per il completamento del progetto, e hanno assorbito comunque tempo.
