Beamforming in time domain represents a useful tool in the research field of moving sources identification, rotating machinery, pass-by and fly-over. This thesis is an experimental report of the results of time domain beamforming performed on four different piano notes. In particular the signals of four different notes played singularly are studied, filtered, modified and then mapped in time evolution. The results of this study are very interesting because they allow to provide a semi-complete characterization of piano sound emission: they show the motion of the sound inside the sounding board, the phenomenon of sympathy, the localization of high intensity spots in the piano board, the intensity modulation of the note and also the duration and sound pressure level of the hammer impulse on the strings. For this study, dedicated scripts and procedures have been developed to filter, to map and to perform time domain beamforming.
