In the following thesis, the theme of female education will be developed by comparing two different economies, Italy and India. It will be shown that at the basis of economic growth and development there is an essential element, education. Through various sources and articles I began my thesis explaining what economic development is and what the essential elements are, highlighting the importance of human capital and considering the importance of education on human capital. It is from this point that my research began, focusing attention on gender inequalities, highlighting how these entail a great disadvantage for the female gender. Comparing two very distinct economies, such as Italy and India, it emerged that in Italy the level of education for women is higher than for men, in fact, more women than men graduate, but the problem is entering the world of work and senior positions. While for India the situation that will arise will be much more complex. Poverty, overcrowding and the lack of suitable facilities generate a lack of education, especially for girls and girls, who are forced to marry very young.
