Abstract

One of the issues that the Covid-19 pandemic has made clear is that the relationship between man and the environment that hosts him must change and businesses are a significant part of the matter as they are called to demonstrate their commitment to reduce own impacts on the environment. Sustainability plays a very important role in this phase of change and therefore it is necessary to radically change the way of thinking about both production processes and the development of new products. In this context, sustainability and circularity, fermented by the power of the Recovery Fund, can make a great contribution to Made in Italy and more generally to large industrial supply chains. To prove what has been studied theoretically, an empirical case is proposed in this paper: we analyze the planning needs of the fashion footwear collection carried out by Strategia S.r.l., a company belonging to the Macerata footwear district, useful for deepening the conceptual categories developed over the years in the international management literature. Since there is a timing phase between product design and actual production of the same, the company finds itself incurring costs upfront with respect to sales receipts. In this phase, suppliers play a crucial role for the company and the vendor rating model allows it to evaluate in a personalized way the different importance that a supplier assumes, above all from a sustainability point of view. With this thesis, we therefore try to clarify the most interesting aspects of the sector at present through Porter's five competitive forces model, providing a useful tool for the company Strategia S.r.l. By analyzing each of the five competitive forces and contextualizing them to the sector in question, it will be possible to understand which are both the factors that determine its success, and those that constitute a threat.

Enabling and sustainable technologies in the supply chains of the future. An analysis of the footwear industrialization process: the ''Strategia S.r.l.'' case study
