Sport has its importance not only in terms of marketing, but it is mostly a social phenomenon that involves billions of people throughout the planet. Therefore this confirms the importance of sports marketing, which with the introduction of new digital technologies and the network has been called to identify new techniques that have created a new way of communicating, breaking down any distance between sports society and its fans. Sports Digital Marketing has allowed to significantly develop communication and market, and it had to face new challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic which despite the heavy economic consequences has however represented a stimulus to adopt more and more these digital communication means. Abstract

The goal of this study is to examine the applications of digital marketing in the field of sport with an eye on social networks, and then analyze the consequences produced by the health crisis especially with regard to digital transformation. Finally, a practical case relating to Formula 1 is proposed: in particular the speech focuses on the changes made to the management of communication on social networks in recent years and on the strategic proposals implemented during lockdown and in the following phases. These choices have allowed the most important discipline of motorsport to recover the popularity that was falling until a few years ago, especially among the new generations. The study, which made use of scientific material and secondary data taken from research and questionnaires, has shown that the consequences of the pandemic for sports organizations have not been completely negative, indeed it has allowed to strengthen and enhance the engagement of fans changing thus the modus operandi of companies.

Sport Digital Marketing and COVID-19 transformations: a case study
