Il Project Management tra teoria e realtà operativa

Project Management, discipline that the Project Management Institute divides into nine areas of knowledge, presents numerous contributions that lead to a considerable stratification of techniques and tools from which the project manager, the figure responsible for managing each project, can draw. Although theory proposes a broad conceptual apparatus to refer to, an important question mark is the possibility that the techniques and tools of Project Management have a "universal" feature, that is they can be applied indiscriminately in all cases, or whether the project manager has to choose from time to time which ones to use according to the characteristics of projects. This is the theme that recurs several times in this work, which presents a rather clear answer: a selection must be made among the large number of tools and techniques available, in order to adapt what the theory foresees to the circumstances. This will also be treated through the example of what happens within the Polimarche Racing Team, Formula Student team of the Polytechnic University of Marche, which, called to design and build the P4M single-seater for the aforementioned competition, presents a targeted use of Project Management tools.

Il Project Management, disciplina che il Project Management Institute suddivide in nove aree di conoscenza, presenta numerosi contributi che portano ad una notevole stratificazione di tecniche e strumenti da cui il project manager, figura responsabile della gestione di ogni progetto, può attingere. Sebbene la teoria proponga, quindi, un ampio apparato concettuale a cui far riferimento, un punto di domanda importante è costituito dalla possibilità che le tecniche e gli strumenti di Project Management abbiano un carattere "universale", cioè che siano applicabili indistintamente in tutti i casi, o se il project manager debba saper scegliere di volta in volta a seconda delle caratteristiche del singolo progetto. Questo è il tema che varie volte ricorre in questo lavoro, che presenta una risposta piuttosto chiara: va fatta una cernita tra il grande numero di strumenti e tecniche disponibili, al fine di adattare quanto prevede la teoria alle circostanze. Tutto ciò sarà trattato anche attraverso l’esempio di quanto avviene all’interno del Polimarche Racing Team, squadra di Formula Student dell’Università Politecnica delle Marche, che, chiamato a progettare e realizzare la monoposto P4M per la suddetta competizione, presenta un uso mirato degli strumenti di Project Management.
