ABSTRACT Introduction: Nursing Sensitive Outcomes (NSO) are sensitive quality indicators in relation to nursing care for patients. NSOs aim to evaluate the effectiveness and quality of nursing care provided, support clinical decisions and promote progress techniques. The main objective of this thesis is to identify, in the literature, the most up-to-date scientific evidence relating to NSOs. Materials and Methods: The study is a literature review conducted through the consultation of databases such as Medline (PubMed) and Google Scholar following the PRISMA model. The inclusion criteria include primary and secondary studies relevant to the study objective, full text, published in the last ten years, in English and Italian. Results: The data analysis identified 11 relevant scientific studies. The data shows a large category of quality indicators sensitive to nursing care. We identified 6 studies from the Eastern context, 2 from England, 1 from Italy, 1 from Spain and 1 from Turkey. The main indicators that emerged concern pressure ulcers (LDD), falls, infections, errors in the administration of therapy and mortality rate. Furthermore, we identified indicators that measure the satisfaction and psychological outcomes of patients and indicators relating to the quality of nursing care provided, especially in the Emergency Department, including intensive care units and the operating block. Discussion: Although presenting indicators in line with national and international literature, it is noted that several studies have not considered the satisfaction of the patient and family members as NSOs. In addition, the study has methodological limitations related to the sample size of the individual studies and the geographical context of origin, influencing the adequacy and generalizability of the results. Conclusions: The study presents the most up-to-date evidence on Nursing Sensitive Outcomes, showing how they significantly influence clinical care outcomes. Therefore, further research is needed in this area to guarantee and ensure correct application in the clinical and care setting.
