INTRODUCTION: Central venous catheter (CVC) management is a core nursing competency that requires the integration of theoretical knowledge, technical skills, and clinical decision-making. The gap between theoretical education and clinical practice remains a significant challenge in nursing education. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the concordance between theoretical education and clinical practice in CVC management using the knowledge triangulation model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic literature review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, using the PICO framework to formulate the research question. The literature search was performed in the PubMed, Scopus, and SpringerLink databases. In parallel, a questionnaire was developed and administered to undergraduate and graduate nursing students to assess their theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and perceptions of the education received regarding CVC management. RESULTS: The findings demonstrated an adequate level of foundational theoretical knowledge; however, difficulties were identified in translating this knowledge into clinical practice during clinical placements. The main challenges included variability in clinical protocols, limited integration between theory and practice, and insufficient clinical supervision. Evidence from the literature indicates that active educational strategies, including simulation-based education, skills laboratories, and continuing professional education, effectively enhance nursing competencies and reduce CVC-related complications. CONCLUSIONS: Knowledge triangulation, defined as the integration of theoretical instruction, simulation-based training, and clinical experience, represents an effective educational approach for developing advanced nursing competencies. Clinical mentorship, simulation-based learning, and structured evidence-based educational programs are essential to facilitate learning, improve the quality of patient care, and ensure safer CVC management. INTRODUZIONE: La gestione del catetere venoso centrale (CVC) rappresenta una competenza fondamentale dell’assistenza infermieristica, che richiede l’integrazione di conoscenze teoriche, abilità pratiche e capacità decisionali. La discrepanza tra apprendimento teorico e applicazione clinica costituisce una criticità rilevante nella formazione degli studenti infermieri. OBIETTIVO Il presente studio si propone di analizzare il livello di concordanza tra formazione teorica e pratica clinica nella gestione dei CVC attraverso il modello della triangolazione della conoscenza. MATERIALI E METODI: È stata condotta una revisione sistematica della letteratura secondo le linee guida PRISMA, utilizzando lo schema PICO per la formulazione del quesito di ricerca. La ricerca bibliografica è stata effettuata sulle banche dati PubMed, Scopus e Springer Link. Parallelamente, è stato elaborato e somministrato un questionario rivolto a studenti dei corsi di laurea triennale e magistrale in infermieristica, finalizzato alla valutazione delle conoscenze teoriche, delle competenze pratiche e della percezione della formazione ricevuta nella gestione dei CVC. RISULTATI: I risultati evidenziano un adeguato livello di preparazione teorica di base, associato tuttavia a difficoltà nell’applicazione pratica delle competenze acquisite durante il tirocinio clinico. Sono emerse criticità relative alla disomogeneità dei protocolli assistenziali, alla limitata integrazione tra teoria e pratica e alla necessità di maggiore supporto tutoriale. Le evidenze della letteratura sottolineano l’efficacia di metodologie formative attive, quali simulazione clinica, laboratori pratici e formazione continua, nel miglioramento delle competenze infermieristiche e nella riduzione delle complicanze correlate ai CVC. CONCLUSIONI: La triangolazione della conoscenza, intesa come integrazione tra formazione teorica, pratica laboratoriale ed esperienza clinica, rappresenta un approccio formativo efficace per lo sviluppo delle competenze infermieristiche avanzate. Il tutoraggio clinico, la simulazione e l’utilizzo di percorsi formativi strutturati e basati sull’evidenza scientifica risultano elementi determinanti per favorire l’apprendimento, migliorare la qualità assistenziale e garantire maggiore sicurezza nella gestione dei CVC.
