This work analyzes the dynamic response mechanisms and energy concentration within porous cellular materials based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) with a gyroid structure. In particular, the study focuses on the energy trapping phenomenon modulated by the trends of relative density ρ ̅(z) and twist rate τ(z), in order to optimize the impedance profile and attenuate impulse propagation along the structure. The strain energy density distribution e(z) within the component was described through an analytical formulation based on the Gibson-Ashby law. The analysis of the anomalous case with constant twist (τ=0°) demonstrated that the variation of density alone with a constant n=0,7276<1 is not sufficient to confine energy in the protected section. The introduction of the factor k(τ) is essential to overcome this limitation. Another fundamental aspect is the demonstration of the independence of the trapping mechanism from the base material: energy trapping is confirmed to be an exclusively geometric-topological property, allowing common design strategies to be adopted for any material.

Abstract
Another fundamental aspect is the demonstration of the independence of the trapping mechanism from the base material: energy trapping is confirmed to be an exclusively geometric-topological property, allowing common design strategies to be adopted for any material.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
