IMPORTANZA DELL'IGIENE ORALE IN RELAZIONE ALLO SVILUPPO DI PARODONTITE E MALATTIE SISTEMICHE: ANALISI DELL'UTILITA' DEI METODI DI DIVULGAZIONE DIGITALI QUALI I SOCIAL MEDIA

The web is a virtual place where everyone can access it for free in order to share knowledge and information, where each person can create content and where users are both producers and consumers of news and data. In recent decades, information and communication technology in social media has brought enormous changes throughout the commercial, educational and political system. Dental education is no exception. The speed of dissemination of information, the lower cost compared to paper and the global and immediate use on request make the internet, the most convenient and effective means of communication also for health professionals who know how to exploit all its potential and make good use of it. The objective of this study was to analyze the Google search engine to evaluate the offer proposed by the web in the field of oral hygiene and periodontal diseases in relation to the development that, the latter, have for systemic diseases. To answer the question of the research, inserting on the platform, described above, specific words, I found that, most of the pages offers a general explanation on the prevention and development of the disease and only some of the latter, deal with the subject in a specific and detailed manner. While, as far as research in literature is concerned, I have been able to see that there are many sources dealing with these topics, but all this is lost by the simple fact that the vast majority of people are not aware of these platforms. On this basis, my advice and conclusions are to promote the dissemination of these sites in order to allow an increasing public, the use of the same and draw, therefore, more important benefits for the treatment of the disease in question. It would also be useful that, the information on the web is constantly updated ensuring an increasingly correct consultation by users.

Il web è un luogo virtuale dove ognuno può accedervi gratuitamente al fine di condividere conoscenze e informazioni, dove ogni persona può creare dei contenuti e dove gli utenti sono al tempo stesso produttori e consumatori di notizie e dati. Negli ultimi decenni, la tecnologia dell'informazione e della comunicazione nei social media ha portato enormi cambiamenti in tutto il sistema commerciale, educativo e politico. L'educazione dentale non fa eccezione. La velocità di diffusione dell’informazione, il minor costo rispetto al supporto cartaceo e la fruizione globale e immediata su richiesta fanno di internet, il mezzo di comunicazione più conveniente ed efficace anche per gli operatori sanitari che sappiano sfruttarne tutte le potenzialità e farne buon uso. L’obiettivo di questo studio è stato quello di analizzare il motore di ricerca Google per valutare l’offerta proposta da web nell’ambito dell’igiene orale e delle malattie del parodonto in relazione allo sviluppo che, queste ultime, hanno per le malattie sistemiche. Per rispondere alla domanda della ricerca, inserendo sulla piattaforma, sopra descritta, parole specifiche, ho riscontrato che, la maggior parte delle pagine offre una spiegazione generale sulla prevenzione e lo sviluppo della malattia e solo alcune di queste ultime, trattano l’argomento in modo specifico e dettagliato. Mentre, per quanto concerne la ricerca nella letteratura, ho potuto constatare che le fonti che trattano questi argomenti sono molte, ma tutto questo viene meno per il semplice fatto che la stragrande maggioranza delle persone non è a conoscenza di queste piattaforme. Su questa base il mio consiglio e le mie conclusioni sono quelle di promuovere la diffusione di questi siti in modo da consentire ad un pubblico sempre maggiore, l’utilizzo degli stessi e trarne, quindi, benefici più importanti per il trattamento della malattia in esame. Sarebbe anche utile che, le informazioni presenti sul web fossero aggiornate costantemente garantendo una sempre più corretta consultazione da parte degli utenti.
