STUDIO SULL'ABBONDANZA, SULLA TAGLIA E SUL COVERING BEHAVIOUR DI ECHINOIDEI (ECHINODERMATA: ECHINOIDEA) DI ACQUE COSTIERE DELLA SARDEGNA NORDOCCIDENTALE.

The thesis project was conducted in shallow waters of Costa Paradiso (Sardegna). The objective of this work focuses on the caracterization of a population of echinoid Paracentrotus lividus, determing its density, size and the manifestation of the covering behaviour. The same data were also obtained for the echinoid Arbacia lixula and density and percentage cover values, respectively, were obtained for the predatory fish species and substrate coverage. The information acquired will be useful in future studies for the conservation, management and sustainable use of this resource.

Il progetto di tesi è stato condotto nelle acque costiere di Costa Paradiso (Sardegna). L'obiettivo di questo lavoro si focalizza sulla caratterizzazione di una popolazione dell' echinoideo Paracentrotus lividus, determinandone la densità, taglia e la manifestazione del covering behaviour. Gli stessi dati sono stati ottenuti anche per l'echinoideo Arbacia lixula e valori di densità e percentuale di copertura, rispettivamente, sono stati ricavati per le specie di pesci predatori e la copertura del substrato. Le informazioni acquisite potranno essere utili in studi futuri per la conservazione, gestione e uso sostenibile di questa risorsa.
