Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) are the most frequent and serious complication of healthcare. In this regard, regional health authority of Marche Region involved the main hospital facilities in a cross-sectional study whose objective is to estimate the size of HCAI and the use of antibiotics in acute care hospitals. Specifically, this report focuses on the results of the hospitals of the Presidio Unico Ospedaliero of Area Vasta 2 i.e. Jesi, Fabriano and Senigallia. The data collection was made through a data sheet equal for all three hospitals: the data collected were divided into macro-areas of hospitalization (medical area, critical area, surgical area, gynecology and obstetrics and psychiatry) and analyzed. The study is a starting point for the planned actions for the prevention of HCAI in the structures of AV2 and ASUR and can be used as a means to reduce the rate of infection by strengthening the sanitary conditions of the inpatient areas: the dissemination of these results and the "return" of data to all operators has the additional purpose of raising health professionals' awareness of the issue of prevention by increasing awareness of their daily actions, warning them about possible mistakes to avoid and empowering them.
