In my master’s degree thesis in Economics & Management called "The role of the Second screen in everyday life" I elaborated how the media diet of Italians has changed, analyzing how since 2011 the use of radio, TV, press, books and especially how the Internet and smartphones have changed the way we inform ourselves and the implications for different generations. Focusing on the Second screen I described how this phenomenon has spread over time in the daily life of everyone, in what forms it can take and what tools are needed. The elaboration also contains information about the aspects that the Second screen must respect to entice the user to use it, so that we can design a comprehensive involvement for the them but also taking into account how the Second screen should not completely subtract the user’s attention from the first screen. At the end of the elaboration are inserted three events, Sanremo 2020, UEFA competitions during August 2020 and the last season of NBA. These cases are analyzed by presenting the volume of listeners and the interactions that are generated by the show, so we can highlight how this Second screen trend is spreading around the world.
