Endometriosis is a gynecological disease that can have a strong physical, emotional and psychological impact on women, affecting the quality of daily life and social relationships. For many women, the path to a definitive diagnosis of endometriosis is long and complicated, characterized by variable symptoms and the use of invasive procedures. All this contributes to a diagnostic delay of 5-10 years from the detection of the first symptoms. Therefore, greater education of women and an improvement in the clinical approach by health professionals is deemed necessary. It is important to focus first on prevention and correct information, rather than on the medical aspects and surgery of endometriosis. Symptoms and signs reported by patients must be a fundamental part of the diagnosis, to ensure early and effective intervention, both for physicians and women. The survey was carried out by administering questionnaires to women of childbearing age, to understand their level of knowledge and awareness of the subject. From here, the aspects to be explored and clarified were identified, as well as the means to achieve this, by asking the participants directly for their opinion. In fact, this study is from the point of view of the woman, rather than the doctor. The results obtained should be interpreted as an invitation for women to identify situations of pathology and not to underestimate the disorders related to their menstrual cycle; for health professionals, as they are, to improve their relationship with women, placing themselves in a situation of understanding and empathy and not discrimination.
